First Day Info!

Dear Families,

I want to thank the families that came to the Meet and Greet. I am looking forward to teaching your child. If you did not get to come to the Meet and Greet I am still looking forward to meeting you and your family.  Kindergarten can be a confusing time for parents and children; I want to be as clear as possible and help you with this important transition. I am always here for your child and feel free to, email or text me through Remind.com. You can find my information on the bottom of this email.

First day:

On the first day of school, there is a half day. Students with the Last Name starting with A-LAttend Kindergarten in the Morning 8:55 a.m. – 12:09 p.m.

Students with the Last Name starting with M-Z Attend Kindergarten in the Afternoon 1:00 p.m. – 3:58 p.m.

The buses will pick up and drop off your child for both groups of students. If you are picking up your student after the morning, you can meet us in the library. When coming in on the first-day parents may drop your child off at the door but are not invited into the classroom until ALL children can successfully begin their day without crying.  After students have made the transition into kindergarten, I have an open-door policy and feel free to come in!

Transportation:

If your child is riding the bus, the support staff will make sure your child makes it to the classroom. I also will be standing in the hallway greeting the children. The Anchor’s Away program will start the first week of school. Anchor’s Away is a mandatory program that allows parents to drive in the back of the school and pick your child up without getting out of the car.  Please sign up for Anchor’s Away using the google forms or call the office.

At the end of the day, I will walk the class outside. I have helpers to make sure your child gets on the correct bus.  Please inform me through email and call the office if your child’s transportation method changes.

If you have not turned in the cooking and party money, please put it an envelope, if you gave me the money at the Meet and Greet, you could throw away the envelope. You do not have to pay twice.

Communication:

There is much more information to come, especially on Curriculum Night on September 13 at 7:00 pm.  I am always thankful to the volunteers of my classroom. On Curriculum Night, there will be a signup sheet for the times and dates you can help. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack and home folder for additional notes.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  Email is a great way to reach me; my email address is rivereubanks@wlcsd.org. Also, you will be receiving my home phone number, please keep it handy and call me anytime a question comes up.

I know the beginning of kindergarten can seem overwhelming especially if this is your first child in kindergarten.  We will have a great year.
