Mr. Eubanks and Ms. Eiden’s Newsletter 10/7~ Halloween Information

A Couple of Notes

Hello Families, this week,  I did not send home the heart words. We could still use a little help with our old heart words. Please practice reading and writing these words. We will also be learning these words in class.

We are still collecting Box Tops.  Each Box Top gives the school 10 cents.  If you have any Box Tops on your food labels at home, please send them in.

Just a reminder that on Monday afternoons we have an hour recess. Please dress for the weather. We go outside most days. Please label everything including jackets with your child’s name. Everyone has the same coat, and if it gets lost, you most likely will find it, if your child’s name is on it.

We made wreaths this week, and they are hanging in our classroom.

Halloween Party

Instead of a Halloween Party, we will be going a field trip on Wednesday, October 31st  to Sunrise Assisted Living in West Bloomfield.  We will parade, trick or treat, and sing a couple of songs to the seniors in our Halloween costumes. From 10:00-10:45  Mr. Eubanks and Mrs. Spontelli ’s class will visit the seniors. Due to limited space at the facility, each class can have 4 chaperones.  We will do a lottery if more than 4 people volunteer.  All volunteers must have a background check form on file. There will be more information to come about this exciting event!

Science

Next week’s theme will be about the 5 Senses. This will begin our first unit on science.

iReady

We will take the iReady two more times this week, Monday and Thursday morning. This is a long test with math and reading part.  Every student has to finish the test, and I will use the information to form reading and math groups.  This way I can teach each child at their own level.   If your child is not done, Ms. Eiden or I will find time to take him/her to the computer lab.

Vocabulary Words

This week we learned about the words:  reward, command and explain.

Next week our vocabulary words will be:  soil, spread and grow.

Please talk to your student about what these words mean.
