Thank you so much for coming to curriculum night. If you were not able to make it, I covered most of the material in the packet I sent out earlier in the week. If you have any questions please text me.
Curriculum night pamphlet:
Our theme this week was Names and next week we will keep the same theme. Most students in the class need to work on writing and knowing every letter in their first name.
As we are getting used to the classroom routines, students will come home with more classroom assignments. I want to inform you of some common marks you will see on your child’s work. If I have viewed the work after your child has completed it, he/she should have one of these marks:
| Mark | What it means |
| Wow | The best mark- wonderful |
| Star, stamp, or a sticker | Good job—this is the most common marking |
| Ok | Your work could be better |
| RE (my initials ) or KT | Your child completed this work with our help. |
I try to limit the number of worksheets we do in class. I find it better if students have hands-on interaction with subjects.
We finally got our schedule and you can find it here!

This week we will take home our poetry notebook.
Reading:
We started small group centers and learning how to switch and move through the classroom. We read words around the room and books that had to do with behaviors. We discovered that everyone of us are Readers and Writers.
Phonics:
We learned about the letters and sound M. We are studying names and next week students will beginning to learn about syllables and rhyming. The better rhymer you are, the better reader you will be.
Our next sight words we need to know in a snap are: Snap Words: I, a, am. Snap words are words you need to know to read and write in a “SNAP”
Writing:
We are learning how writing workshop works and what to do when you finish writing. Students are asked to draw a picture that tells a story. More advanced students are writing letter and sounds that match the writing. Everyone soon will be writing words that match their picture.
PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD LEARN HOW TO WRITE THEIR FULL FIRST NAME.
Math:
We soon will begin small group work. We started our calendar and learned how to play some easy math games, like Count and Sit! Next, we will learn about patterns and what to do at math centers.
