Reading, Phonics, Writing- We are working on decoding unknown words by looking at parts of words we know; for example, we know the “ing” in sing. We are studying these concepts in reading, phonics, and writing. Although students should be reading, looking at the first letter, stretching and sounding out words, rereading and pointing to terms, some stronger readers can read most, and those students are working on comprehension.
To read first-grade books, students must learn to read and write the following words: come here look said. Once students learn those four words, they are usually ready to read most words and figure out words which they can not read yet.
Science: This week’s theme was Push and Pull, and we will continue to study that throughout the month. Pushing and pulling on an object can change the speed or direction of its motion and can start or stop it. Engineers and engineering designers use knowledge of forces and motion as they develop solutions to problems and make things that are useful to people.
Kindergarten Science – Push & Pull
We are starting our next science unit! This week in class, students will begin an investigation on forces of motion and push and pull. By the end of The Push and Pull unit, students will be expected to know these science concepts:
– Students will explain an object’s position regarding things around it. In addition, students will study positional words: above, left, right, next to, and behind. Knowing and using positional words will be on your child’s report card under the math section. Please try to use these words at home.
-Students will be able to explain the concepts of push and pull and how force can change the motion of objects.
-Students will look for push and pull forces on the playground, experiment with new materials, and create their moveable toy!
Math- we are studying adding. It would be fantastic if you reviewed some additional problems at home with your child!
