March is reading month! Just a friendly reminder on Wednesdays- you should wear words on your shirt, and on Friday, please send in a flashlight.

This Thursday, we will have Superhero Day because we are Super Readers! Kindergarteners have been on a journey of discovery as they have been studying super-decoding powers. Please wear a blue or a superhero shirt. They have learned how to recognize letters, decode sounds, and put them together to form words. Through this process, they have discovered that they have the power to read! By unlocking the code of written language, Kindergarteners can explore new worlds, meet new characters, and expand their imaginations. With their newfound abilities, they can now read signs, menus, and books and communicate their thoughts and ideas through writing. This exciting and empowering journey is just the beginning for these young readers as they continue to build their reading skills and become confident and lifelong learners.

On March 14, we are making toys with the fifth graders. If you have the boxes or other cardboard recyclables, can you please send them in so we can use them to create fun toys? Cardboard boxes can be transformed into cars, castles, robots, and more. We will use scissors, tape, glue, and other craft supplies to decorate the boxes and turn them into unique and imaginative creations. Recycling boxes are not only a great way to reuse materials and reduce waste, but they can also provide endless hours of fun and creativity.

We studied Teeth this week and will explore “How to” books next week. Also, I will be assessing the students for their upcoming report cards.
