Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to our November newsletter! As the days grow shorter and the air gets chillier, we have some exciting updates and important reminders to share with our kindergarten community.
1. Bundle Up for Colder Weather:
With temperatures dropping, it’s essential to keep our little learners warm and cozy. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in warm, layered clothing. Snowpants and other winter gear are becoming a necessity, and we advise securing these items soon as they tend to sell out quickly.
2. Writing Wonders: Pattern Books and Windy Tales:
Our young authors have been diving into the world of pattern books. They’ve been using this style to write about the wind, beautifully tying into our science unit on weather. It’s delightful to see their creativity and understanding of the natural world blossom through words!
3. Mathematics Mastery: Making 10 in Various Ways:
In math, we’ve been exploring different strategies to make the number 10. This concept is crucial as it lays the foundation for understanding place value and basic arithmetic. Our little mathematicians are learning to see numbers in flexible ways, a skill that will benefit them throughout their mathematical journeys.
4. Reading Adventures: Blending Sounds and Stretching Words:
In reading, we’ve focused on blending sounds to form words and stretching these sounds to enhance reading fluency. This practice helps in developing phonemic awareness and is a critical step in becoming a confident reader. We’ve also emphasized the importance of one-to-one matching, ensuring that every word is carefully and correctly identified.
5. Home Practice: Spelling/Snap Words:
We encourage you to practice spelling and snap words with your child at home. This not only reinforces what we learn in class but also boosts their confidence and proficiency in reading and writing.
Reminders:
- Please label your child’s winter clothing and gear.
- Remember to check our class website for weekly updates and resources.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration in making this school year a great success. Let’s keep our little ones learning, exploring, and growing together!
Warm regards,

This is our ABC Song
