WOW! What a week for me personally; I spent 3 full days on jury duty, and when I came back, we went on a field trip and talked about how we are “Prepared not scared” during a lockdown drill. I am thankful for Ms. Tracz, who took over for me while I was gone! She did a fantastic job!

Writing: We started learning more about writing a true story about something in our lives. We also wrote a class story about the field trip we went on! 

Math: We learned about hexagons and how to make them using different shapes. We also explored numbers and what teen numbers are. Lastly, we explored centers’ weight, height, length, and capacity. 

Phonics: We explored changing the beginning sounds of words to make a new word. We learned how to play a new phonics game called what’s my rule! 

Reading: We worked more on knowing the character, problem, setting, and solution of stories. We did this by comparing different Gingerbread stories we have read recently. We also started learning how to retell a story using first, next, and last. 

Field Trip- We could not have asked for better weather! I have been on that field trip when it has been zero degrees and three feet of snow! We had a fantastic time learning about birds in winter and trees.

Dates:

Thursday- We sent home snowflakes; it is a holiday present that your child made in class for you.

Monday 2-3- We are making Gingerbreadman Houses; please remember to send in your donations if you signed up. If you are a parent who would like to attend, please sign up or text me to know that you are coming. Many parents are coming to help everyone make their gingerbread house. You can take home your gingerbread house on Monday.

Tuesday morning, we will make a gingerbread man and put him into the oven. At the end of the day, we will taste the gingerbread man, have some hot chocolate and watch a short movie. Our winter party is making the gingerbread houses.
