Newsletter 2-11-2022

Dates:

Monday- $1 for Valentine’s Day Sucker fundraiser

Next week there will not be a newsletter, because there is a vacation. Poetry notebooks will also not be sent home, please enjoy your break.

Reading:

At shared reading, we learned about how pictures are there to help us with words on the page. As readers, we also have to ask ourselves; does it make sense? does it look right? does it sound right? when reading words we don’t know. We looked at patterns that we can see in books and used those patterns to help us read words we do not know.

Writing:

This week we continued our unit of writing letters. This week we discussed what a friendly letter is and what the parts of a letter are. We talked about when we are writing letters, it is important to write nice things. We wrote letters to others in the classroom and to someone at home and will be mailing these, so be on the lookout!

Math:

This week we mixed science and math to explore and describe what positional words are and how we can use them. We also explored measurement and how we use measurement to help us. This week also included the 100th day of school, so we stretched to 100, had fun 100th centers, and manipulated things to make 100. We also hid 100 pieces of candy around the room and students had to match the number of candy with the 100’s chart. It was a fun time for all! You can find the pictures below.

Science:

This week we continued to explore and discover pushes and pulls. We also discussed positional words (above, below, besides, etc.) and how we can use these words to describe pushes and pulls.

Phonics:

This week we finished iReady. We also explored rhyming words by creating mugs and cookies that included many different rhyming words.
