Reading: We continued using our reading superpowers and how we can use them with extra strength! An example of this would be the use of picture power. We look at the whole picture instead of small parts of the picture to help us with the words on the page.

Writing: We continued to work on How-To books! Students worked hard on creating stories that used words and pictures with lots of details. We talked about how using detail helps to teach someone about our topic. We did this by having the students teach us how to eat starbursts!

Phonics: We focused on the vowels a and i, this week. We worked on making sure that all of our words have vowels in them. We learned a couple of songs that helped up to figure out the vowel in words. Mabel also brought us more snap words to work on. She will be bringing us more next week as well and we will be having a snap word test before spring break.

Math: We continued working on the idea of subtraction. We learned multiple ways to solve subtraction problems as a class, in small groups, and as individuals. We also started taking our math assessments.

Science: We finished our Science Unit of Pushes and Pulls. On Thursday, we used recycled materials to create our own toys.

Social Studies: We started our Social Studies Unit, Then and Now. We read books about the past and how things have changed over the years, such as cars, grocery stores, phones, etc.
