Hello,
I will keep this newsletter brief because I saw many of you at Curriculum Night. If you did not go to Curriculum Night, please read the pamphlets I sent home in the black folder.
Just a note that Movie Night is on Friday, September 16, but it is not tonight.
On Friday, I sent home a bagel order form. This is the only chance in the year to buy bagels. If you choose to purchase bagels, they will come once a month to your child in the morning. Please consider participating in this fundraiser; many children feel left out if they do not get a bagel.
We are not doing too much curriculum at this point in the year because we are working on rules, routines and how to act in school.
Reading:
We are working on staying in one place and reading the whole time. We learned that strong readers read everything.
Writing:
Today we began to label our pictures. Before that, we drew pictures that told a story; now, we are marking our story with the first sound we heard.
Phonics
We went over the letter and sounds of M and N and started with the letter R. We also learned about syllables and writing our names.
If your child does not know how to write their name, please help them at home.
Math
We counted to 100 and learned about shapes. Next week we are working on counting and that one-to-one match, and how to count when things are not in a row.
