Hi Families and Friends,
We had a short week, and I will keep this short.
- Monday- Send in an apple– Our theme is All About Apples next week, and we will make applesauce on Thursday.
- Wednesday– No School
- Thursday- We will be making applesauce and begin our science unit
- Friday– The second round of Star of the Day will begin.
- All Week– We are still working on finishing iReady, and I will get the scores to you as soon as everyone in the class is completed the test.
- Snap Word Test– It takes almost a week to give this test too. I give it individually to each student; they should know how to read and write the snap words.
- Favor: If you have any plastic grocery bags you are not using, can you please send them in?
I did not send home poetry books this week because we still need to work on the poems, it was a short week. We also spent a lot of time on iReady. We will continue working on iReady next week.
If you did not send in headphones for your child, please do so ASAP.
We learned about shapes (this week’s theme, too), and Ms. Mimi, our story lady, came into the class to read us a story about friendship.
Writing-We are working on beginning sounds and labeling a picture. The picture is about something that happened to us. Next week we will begin adding a setting to the picture.
Phonics-We went over the letters k, j, and r. We worked on the Snap Words and tried to add them to our writing. We studied more about syllables and began to practice rhyming.
Math-We learned how to draw, make and describe 2-d or flat shapes.
Reading-. We are learning to point to one word at a time. This one-to-one word match is crucial for beginning readers. I sent home finger flashlights to help students to point to each word. When reading, please have your student practice pointing to each word as they say it.
