Hello, Wonderful Kindergarten Families!
We’ve had another fantastic week in our classroom, and I’m excited to share all the amazing things your little learners have been up to. As always, thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm—it makes our classroom a really special place!
Mother’s Day Celebration
Our little artists have been working hard on creating beautiful Mother’s Day Books, which they are so excited to share with you! These books are filled with drawings, stories, and lots of love. Be sure to join us at our Sing and Share event this Thursday to receive these heartfelt gifts. It’s a perfect time to celebrate the wonderful mothers and special people in our lives.
Phonics Fun
In phonics, we’ve been exploring blends and long vowels. Understanding these helps us decode bigger words, boosting reading fluency. We also studied the “ay” sound, which appears in many words, like “play” and “say.” It’s a key sound that helps us understand word patterns.
Reading Adventures
We’re learning what it means to be avid readers, inspired by Lucy Calkins’ reading strategies. Avid Readers read enthusiastically, think about the story, and understand what they read. In nonfiction, we’ve been focusing on finding the main idea, which helps us summarize and understand key information in texts.
Math Mastery
This week in math, we’ve tackled subtraction and everyone is getting better each day, though it’s still tricky for many. We also made several graphs to understand data representation. Graphing is fun and enhances understanding of numbers in a visual format.
Sing and Share
Our week’s theme led us to practice for a delightful play that we will present at the Sing and Share. You’re in for a treat—our students have put in great effort and can’t wait to show you their talents!
Story Time Favorites
We enjoyed a series of books about Ms. Nelson and the mysterious Viola Swamp from the book “Miss Nelson is Missing!” The story captures the adventures of a kind teacher whose alter ego, Viola Swamp, helps manage a spirited classroom. It’s been a hit, inspiring lots of imaginative discussions and laughter.
A Note from Fred
Fred, our beloved pet unicorn who lives in the classroom ceiling, has been keeping an eye on us! He reminded everyone to listen carefully to Mr. Eubanks during our carpet time and to keep our hands to ourselves. Fred always adds a bit of magic to our days!
Thank you for another wonderful week. I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the Sing and Share. Let’s make it memorable!
Warm regards,
Mr. Eubanks
