Mr. Eubanks’ Kindergarten Weekly Newsletter with Sing and Share Video

Dear Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you well. It was wonderful to see all of you at the Sing and Share! Thank you for being there to support our classroom community. I just wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you who were able to take some time off to attend your child’s performance. As a parent who couldn’t always make it due to work, I understand the sacrifice and effort it takes. The time you took will be worth it, creating special memories that both you and your child will cherish for years to come.

Field Day is this Friday! Please remember to wear green and bring a water bottle with your child’s name on it. You might get wet during the activities, so don’t forget to send a change of clothes. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting day!

Phonics

This week, we focused on the long vowel sounds with the magic “e.” Each day, we practiced writing dictated sentences and correcting our work to reinforce our understanding. The kids are making fantastic progress!

Writing

We wrote a special Mother’s Day book as part of our classroom activities. The packet was sent home with your child, so I hope you enjoyed reading it! The answers are sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, and always heartwarming. Please keep these Mother’s Day books as treasured keepsakes. We’ll be doing a similar project for Father’s Day. If your child would like to write to a special male figure besides their father (like an uncle, grandpa, stepdad, or family friend), please let me know.

Math

In math, we continued learning about 3D shapes and naming the solid shapes. The students are also progressing well with subtraction and graphing.

Reading

In reading, we are focusing on identifying the main idea, retelling stories, and understanding the problems and solutions for different characters. The kids are working hard and showing improvement in their comprehension skills.

Buddy Time

With our fifth-grade buddies, we learned a fun game called “Boom, Slap, Snatch!” In this game:

  • Boom: The leader claps their hands together while saying “Boom.”
  • Slap: The leader slaps their knees while saying “Slap.”
  • Snatch: The leader pretends to grab an imaginary object while saying “Snatch.”

The goal is to mimic the leader’s movements and words as closely as possible. It helps improve listening skills and coordination while bringing a lot of laughter to the classroom!

Thank You!

I sincerely cherish each one of you and your children. Your support is invaluable, and it is an honor to be a part of their learning journey.
