Reading

We compared and contracted different The Little Red Riding Hood books. We acted the play out and went ice skating like Little Gliding Hood (on paper plates around the classroom).

This week we will be listening to science books about Push and Pull.

Writing

We are adding a beginning, middle, and end of our story. We are trying to break away from the pattern books and move towards writing a true story with characters and a setting. Many students are having trouble with this concept.

Math

We are learning how to decompose numbers and different ways to make the number 10.

Science

We are starting our next science unit! Students will begin an investigation on push and pull this week in class. Through this unit, students will be
able to:

-Explain the position of an object in terms of objects around it. Example use words above, next to, behind, etc.

-Show and explain that force is a push or a pull and can change the motion of objects.

-Keep a science journal to document their findings and understandings.

-Students will look for push and pull forces on the playground, experiment with new materials, and create their own moveable toy!
