This week our theme was Spring and our read alouds connected to all things spring.

  • Spring break is from March 29th-April 4th.
  • School Resumes April 5th
  • April 13- Spring pictures
  • April 22 – Ms. Rusz last day (more info to come)

Writing: This week in writing we have continued learning how to write how-tos. To excite the students about spring break, we wrote a how-to on how to find an egg and get the candy inside. The students enjoyed creating the steps of the how-to as a class and then writing it down all by themselves!

Phonics: We are continuing to strengthen our vowel power! As a class, we have been zooming into the sounds of short a and short i. During the week we did many activities such as vowel hunts in stories, pictures, and word sorts, and writing our new snap words in chalk on the sidewalk.

Reading: This week in reading we practiced using our letter-sound knowledge to help read unknown words. We also practiced noticing consonant clusters such as digraphs and blends to help solve unknown words. They have enjoyed partner reading back-to-back style as well.

Math: In math we have been strengthening our adding and subtracting skills. In small groups, we did number line addition and subtraction where they got to add and subtract numbers together and either hop up or down on the floor number line. We also used dominoes to sort based on the sum of the two sides. We will be continuing to practice how to make teen numbers when we come back from spring break!
