Short and Sweet Newsletter 1-14-2022

We continued our study on word parts and looked at the parts of words you know to figure out words. We learned about the vowels: a, e, i, o, and u and how they make two sounds. In morning work, we are reading words and find matching pictures. We have to make each letter sound to read the words. Please keep on reading and work on what each letter sounds makes.

Writing
This week, we focused on writing true stories for our readers by using pictures, spaces between words, capitalizing our words, and adding more words to our stories. We wrote stories and made sure that we could read them and went back, making changes if we couldn’t. We also made sure that others could read our stories.

Reading
This week, we focused on knowing our reading superpower sidekicks! We learned more about how our superpowers have sidekicks that help them be extra strong when we read by focusing on pictures, sounds, and words in the stories we read.

Math
This week, we continued working with teen numbers and adding two numbers together to make a larger number. We learned how to show these numbers on ten-frames. We also learned about number stories, and we will continue to do number stories during our math routine. Along with number stories, we are being introduced to the equal symbol.
